Our team participated in an event during the summer called Clairemont Days. This, much like the UC Celebration, is a family get together for everyone to enjoy games and neighbors' company. There were numerous booths set up at a local park, where it was held. We set up a booth with a field where we demonstrated and displayed our robots. We held a raffle at our booth, and this was another great way to attract kids and adults to our booth so they could then also hear about FIRST and see the robots in action. Many kids were interested into the robots and all wanted a try driving them. There were hundreds of people that came to the neighborhood event and most had passed by our booth. Since we are a neighborhood team and not funded by a school, we try to fundraise anytime we can. On that hot summer day, we sold chilled drinks and popsicles around the park. This event was a great way for kids to see what their own neighbors had done and learn that they could also build robots and participate in FIRST.
