In November 2008. our team headed out bright and early to the Ruben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. There we participated in a Robotics Expo where we interacted with an FRC group, several FLL teams and a Bot Ball club. We were all there to teach kids and other visitors about robotics. We brought our competition robot, Cookie, and worked alongside our brother team, EMP. We taught kids how to drive and gave their parents information on starting and joining teams, encouraging them to participate.

The event was also exciting because it didn't just involve robotics teams. Industry professionals who work with robots of all types were there presenting their work too, and we got to talk to them. We talked to an engineer who designs and markets high-tech underwater research bots for deep-sea exploration, which was very cool. He explained how they worked, and what they were used for and we were very impressed.

The Expo lasted several hours and we spoke with quite a few parents. The children we saw and talked to loved Cookie and at the end of the day we felt pretty successful.
